The stay

The Conrad is the architectural splurge — it occupies Frank Gehry's Grand LA, and the whole hotel is pitched at people who care about design, with a 16,000-square-foot terrace to match. You're in the Bunker Hill culture cluster, walking distance to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Broad, and MOCA, which is about as walkable as Los Angeles gets. At $$$$ it's the priciest downtown stay and you're paying for the building and the deck — worth it if architecture and the museums are your LA, less so if you came for the beach.
